Buddhism - 4 Evenings of Exploration

Free Offering - Suggested donation of $25

Over the past number of decades, Buddhist thought, and practices have been making a strong in road into the daily life of many westerners. Since the Second World War, the incursion of Japanese products and lifestyles has made a dramatic influence in our western culture. In the areas of religion, the Buddhist practices of Zen brought by T.Z. Suzuki and martial arts with Bruce Lee started an avalanche of interest bringing many to a deep curiosity of the inner Asian life. The plight of the Tibetan nation and the Buddhist leader the Dalai Lama also has been a major influence around the world that has promoted great interest to all walks of life.

With this consistently growing influx from these once very remote areas of the world has come a fresh approach to life, another way of thinking, an innovative new look at human psychology that has been both bright and revitalizing for those interested in the nurturing and caring of themselves, sentient beings, and the world at large.

Buddhism is not a religion, but more a precondition and also, at the same time a fulfillment of religion! It is the path of virtue, compassion and spiritual insight of life! During these four evenings, we will explore the foundational aspects of Buddhist thought and a few of its basic principles and practices. These will include but limited to:

- Its history

 - The Four Noble Truths,

- The Five Precepts

 - The Absolute and the Relative

- The Four Immeasurables

 - The Six Perfections and more.
